Secretário-geral: Proteja a Palestina, a Flotilla Sumud e Pressione o Trump

Como cidadãos e residentes de Portugal, e cidadãos internacional, nós apreciamos a sua clareza sobre a ocupação Israelita, a necessidade para um cessar-fogo imediato e permanente, acesso irrestrito às provisões humanitárias para Gaza e a libertação de todos os reféns. Estamos de luto pela perda de vida, as lesões graves, e a migração forçada contínua de milhões de palestinianos, enquanto Israel considera como alvo militar o pessoal das ONU, profissionais humanitários, jornalistas, profissionais de cuidados de saúde e de primeira resposta, bem como todas as infra-estruturas civis em Gaza.
Confiamos que a Semana de Assembleia Geral de Alto-Nível de 2025, depois do apelo das ONU de Setembro de 2024 a Israel para que se conformasse com o direito internacional e para que terminasse a sua ocupação ilegal dos Territórios Ocupados da Palestina no período de 12 meses, vossa excelência liderará ações robustas dos Estados Membros das ONU, para proteger os Territórios Ocupados da Palestina das agressões Israelitas. Confiamos que também se assegurará de que os Estados Membros das ONU oferecerão proteção total às organizações e iniciativas humanitárias, que levam recursos e provisões para quebrar o cerco ilegal que Israel exerce em Gaza; tais como a Global Sumud Flotilla, cuja embarcação foi recentemente atacada por drones incendiários, que inclui os cidadãos Portugueses.
Finalmente, apelamos a vossa excelência - como Secretário Geral das ONU e concidadão de Portugal - para que comunique directamente com o Presidente dos EUA Donald Trump na oportunidade mais breve. Como Secretário Geral das ONU, é a sua responsabilidade agir como o porta-voz dos interesses dos povos do mundo, em particular os pobres e vulneráveis de entre eles. Confiamos em si, para que não perca a consciência dessa responsabilidade. Antes - ou durante - a próxima semana de Assembleia Geral de Alto-Nível de 2025, pedimos-lhe que pressione o Presidente Trump para usar a sua influência completa para terminar as atrocidades contínuas de Israel, bem como as violações do direito internacional que são cometidas em Gaza e na Cisjordânia. Há provas irrefutáveis de que Israel está a cometer Genocídio em Gaza com impunidade total. A situação é urgente; o Presidente Trump detém uma oportunidade histórica de demonstrar o seu compromisso em terminar conflitos e guerras globais. Pedimos-lhe que pressione o Presidente Trump a aproveitar esta oportunidade histórica e significativa para se tornar o presidente dos EUA que usou a sua influência para impedir um genocídio e pôr fim à cumplicidade dos EUA na ocupação israelita.

As citizens and residents of Portugal, and international citizens, we appreciate your clarity on the Israeli occupation, the need for an immediate, permanent ceasefire, unfettered access to humanitarian provisions in Gaza and the release of all hostages. We mourn the loss of life, grave injuries, and continued displacement for millions of Palestinians as Israel targets UN personnel and humanitarian workers, journalists, healthcare workers and first responders, as well as all civilian infrastructures in Gaza.
We trust that at the upcoming 2025 UN General Assembly High-Level Week, following the September 2024 UN appeal to Israel to comply with international law and end it's unlawful presence in Occupied Palestinian Territory within 12 months, you will lead robust UN Member State actions to protect the Occupied Palestinian Territories from Israeli aggression. We trust that you will also ensure that UN Member States offer full protection to humanitarians bringing aid to break Israel's illegal siege of Gaza, such as those on the Global Sumud Flotilla, which has recently been attacked by drones and includes Portuguese citizens.
Finally, we call on you - as UN General Secretary and fellow Portuguese citizen - to also speak directly with USA President Donald Trump at the earliest opportunity. As UN General Secretary it is your responsibility to act as a spokesperson for the interests of the world's peoples, in particular the poor and vulnerable among them. We trust you to not loose sight of that responsibility. Before - or at - the upcoming High-Level Week, we ask that you personally urge President Trump to use his full influence to end the ongoing Israeli atrocities, and violations of international law committed in Gaza and the West Bank. Overwhelming evidence shows that Israel is committing Genocide in Gaza with full impunity. The situation is urgent; President Trump holds an historic opportunity to demonstrate his commitment to end global wars and conflict. We call on you to urge President Trump to take this momentous and historic opportunity to become the US president who used his influence to stop a Genocide, and end US complicity in Israeli occupation.
