Evergreens Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York is a private and sacred space being used by the public as a DOG PARK, PICNIC AREA, BIKE PATH, ON GRAVESITES. Loitering has made the cemetery UNSAFE FOR FAMILY MEMBERS to visit loved ones.

The Cemetery has multiple entrances and is used as a thruway for cars, cyclist, joggers and pedestrians. This increases the risk for acts of theft, vandalism and mischief. Note: There was an act of vandalism reported on October 18th, 2014.

THESE ARE ALL PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES AS PER EVERGREENS CEMETERY RULES & REGULATIONS (listed on their website).

***We are Demanding that Evergreens’ Cemetery Management ENFORCE RULES AND REGULATIONS!!!***

Management has ignored multiple complaints regarding these issues since September 2019!

Plot owners have been exploited by Evergreens Cemetery Management!

Board Members must be held accountable for the same standards!    

THE CHANGE THAT WE ARE DEMANDING  ARE AS FOLLOWS:

• One entrance with a gatekeeper to screen entry.
• Management needs to provide enough security to provide safety and enforce the rules and regulation.
• Active surveillance cameras around entire cemetery grounds.
• They need a higher fence by the Bushwick Avenue and around the entire cemetery (to prevent vandalism/graffiti  and trespassers from entering the cemetery).
