Dr Jocelynne Scutt explains why mediation is the only route to real justice

1950s born women were directly targeted to bear the brunt of the changes in State Pension Age, and have suffered discrimination on grounds of both sex and age and in some cases marital status.

"A breach of International Law CEDAW cannot be ignored by either the Courts or by the government"

"This is a debt of both law and honour"

"50sWomen are entitled to far more than minor compensation based in some notion of delay" (in notification)

"The right outcome and the achievement of justice is not located only in the delay and maladministration proposition"

"The law is on the side of 50sWomen"

Statement on The Law and the Chancellor:

Dr Scutt has also written a Statement, outlining that it is concerning that the Chancellor is misinformed as to the legal position vis-a-vis 1950s women and the DWP in the implementation of the Pensions Acts of 1995 and 2007.

Latest article by Investigative Journalist David Hencke:

The Great Stonewall: How the Secretary of State for Work & Pensions and the Prime Minister have stymied 50sWomen compensation

"What is becoming clear to exasperated MPs whether on the Commons Work and Pensions Committee or the Public Administration and Constitution Affairs Committee is that the government have no intention of naming a date when they will reply. And the government know they do not have to implement the Ombudsman’s paltry findings because the law allows them to ignore or reject any recommendation from the Ombudsman"

"What is also missing is a more rounded debate. It is centred – no doubt by Higginson Strategy, lobbyists for WASPI, solely on the demands of WASPI which seems content to accept the Ombudsman’s recommended findings"

"CEDAWinLAW has asked the UN CEDAW committee in Geneva to open an inquiry into the government’s handling of this. If they do the Government will face international criticism and the UK’s reputation for fairness and treatment of women in society will be further damaged"

Work and Pensions Select Committee meeting of 22nd May 24 with the Secretary of State and the Permanent Secretary for Dept of Work and Pensions

Work and Pensions Select Committee Meeting

The section regarding 50sWomen begins about 20 minutes from the end, but offers little encouragement to 50sWomen of any prompt resolution on the matter of compensation for maladministration
