Vulnerable people are constantly at risk in the current system.

This linked article on the failure of the current care system to protect the elderly and PWD during the recent heat wave, causing 569 deaths in BC alone, demonstrates the absolute necessity to support our current family caregivers.

Some people must be or want to be in homes of their own, or group homes, or home shares, or other facilities. We do not fund these options enough to keep them safe, we do not support family caregivers or informal caregivers at all, and yet we will pay for-profit companies to run programs and homes, unmonitored, and enrich shareholders.

Supporting family caregivers enhances service and funding ability for those who choose a different housing option. Plus, the clients are supposed to be making this choice themselves.
