The Canadian Constitution, Part 3 guarantees:
36 (1) Without altering the legislative authority of Parliament or of the provincial legislatures, or the rights of any of them with respect to the exercise of their legislative authority, Parliament and the legislatures, together with the government of Canada and the provincial governments, are committed to
(a) promoting equal opportunities for the well-being of Canadians;
(b) furthering economic development to reduce disparity in opportunities; and
(c) providing essential public services of reasonable quality to all Canadians.
But this does not include informal/family caregivers. There are no incentives for employers to hire us and in BC an employer can fire a person without cause for the first three months of employment. While the labour law protects people regarding family status, there are not any specific protections for caregivers of adults.
Likewise, there are no income equality programs or caregiving provisions for CPP for caregivers of children/adults past the age of seven.
Child Disability Benefits and the Disability Tax Credit are notoriously difficult to get, and the DTC only helps if you have enough income for it to be used. If your loved one does not have a qualifying disability, you will not receive these, no matter the actual impact on their daily lives.
