Scrap non-Welsh names for Welsh places

The Issue

In a spirit of respect for Wales as its own nation with its own history; and as a mark of acknowledgement concerning some of the cultural oppression that has historically been inflicted on Wales, we ask:

That English versions of Welsh place names no longer be used officially.

This would mean that, whilst the English names might initially continue to be used by some out of habit, in all official avenues and in both spoken and written media, the original Welsh names for places in Wales would be used.

This request is in no way meant to be discriminatory or “extreme”. It is simply a step towards an embrace of Wales’ native culture. This request takes inspiration from such places as Uluru (formerly known as Ayers Rock); Toronto (formerly known as York); and now Eryri and Bannau Brycheiniog (formerly known as Snowdonia and Brecon Beacons, respectively).
