Regards, Danny Sirs, As you are aware, the attached petition has been raised in direct response to the immediate present issue of the Common Raven attacking and brutally killing livestock, this is particularly apparent to us whilst in the throes of the lambing season. The manner in which colonies of the Common Raven have been allowed to grow, uncontrolled would call into question whether the RSPB and SNH have any idea as to what is being witnessed on the ground on a daily basis throughout the farming community, which is massed flocks of this species targeting both in lamb ewes and new born lambs. Currently demonstrated instances where SNH have issued landowners with a licence to take two Ravens when the issue is a flock of thirty is laughable and in no way meet the requirements of those who face multiple deaths of their livestock on a daily basis. We the signed urge both the Scottish Natural Heritage and the RSPB to take onboard the views of the sheep farming community and face your obligation to protect our livelihood, after all the General Licence 02/2016 definition is “To take or kill birds for the prevention of serious damage to live stock” We would ask you; with the current evidence to hand, what else would you define this as other than serious damage to livestock? We eagerly await your response.
