Whilst in Level 2 Covid restrictions, the Scottish Government allowed up to 3,000 people into a Euro 2020 fanzone in Glasgow, and 12,500 fans into Hampden Park.

As we move to Level 0, restrictions have been eased in many other areas across Scotland, but football grounds are limited to 2,000 fans, regardless of the size of the venue.

Level 2 = 12,500 fans

Level 0 = 2,000 fans

With English grounds moving to normal capacities, this puts Scottish football clubs at a very serious disadvantage, putting livelihoods and businesses at risk.

The continued restrictions are extreme and completely at odds with the easing of restrictions in both Scotland and the rest of the UK.

Football supporters have stuck by their clubs throughout the past 15 months, continuing to buy season tickets despite not being able to attend a single game in this time.  It is time for the Scottish Government to demonstrate support for National game.
