Stop the silence of Victorian sexual assault survivors

The issue

A new law was passed in Victoria disallowing sexual assault survivors be able to come forward and tell their story. A new law change in February prevents them from using their real names in public. The law is retrospective and applies when an offender has been found guilty.
Breaches can result in up to four months in prison or fines exceeding $3000

The only way for victims to identify themselves and tell their stories is to obtain a court order - which is not only time consuming, but would cost more than $10,000 in legal fees.

Sexual assault survivors need to be able to fight for their right to tell their story of what has made an impact on their lives. We will not be silent about the evil acts that has been brought upon us by other people.
