Deforestation destroys the habitats of many animals such as koalas, Sumatran tiger, birds and orangutans. Australia is among the worst 11 countries in the world for deforestation. We need to change this. Animals use trees to feed themselves and their family, for shelter, and just for living. It also gets rid of our oxygen that we breathe every single day. Deforestation can cause more animals or plants species to be at the risk of extinction, in 2017 to 2018 the clearing rate for trees in Queensland was 392,000 hectares. Australia has lost 25% rainforest, 45% of open forest, 32% woodland forest and 30% of Malle forest in 200 years. The effect of these changes have caused 20% of Australian mammals, 7% of reptiles and 13% of birds to be listed as Extinct, endangered or vulnerable. Removing trees gets rid of a large portion of canopies in forests, allowing extreme heat to enter. Around 250 million people live in forests and savanna areas, depending on them to survive. Rainforests play a major role in the water supply of a lot of cities, and even global water cycles. An estimation of 15% all green house gasses like carbon dioxide are a result of deforestation. Having trees acts as a virtual carbon sink, they absorb heaps of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Not having trees allows more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere which can cause a lot more issue relating to global warming. When trees are cut down and burned or allowed to rot, their stored carbon is released into the air as carbon dioxide. If we are cutting down 392,000 hectares of trees a year just in Queensland we are just adding carbon dioxide into the air. Causing so much trouble in the future for our world and atmosphere. The loss of trees forms a major threat to biodiversity around the world. Deforestation also effects climate change. It adds carbon dioxide to the air and lowers the amount of carbon dioxide that can be dissolved.  Everyday, people are cutting down trees, just for things like paper, wood and cardboard. We don’t need these things, but animals need homes. About 30% of the worlds land is covered in forests. However, they’re going extinct at an alarming rate. Stop deforestation before it’s too late by signing this petition and making the people that can do something actually do something.

By signing this petition you are helping to suggest a law that will promote the end of deforestation. It will allow laws to add higher taxes to paper, and it will add limits to the amount of trees someone can cut down. The more trees cut down the higher the tax goes up.
