Today, the Australian federal health department has confirmed that pregnant women have been designated a priority group and are eligible to book for Covid-19 vaccines.

While the government updates the online eligibility checker, pregnant women in Australia are encouraged to call the National coronavirus Hotline (1800 020 080) to find relevant clinics to book their vaccine.

Thank you to each and every one of you for supporting pregnant women to become eligible to receive a Pfizer vaccine in Australia. We did it! We are now eligible!

Personally, I am relieved to know that I and every other pregnant woman in Australia can now book in their Pfizer vaccine without feeling like we're jumping the queue, or dreading being turned away on the day, without having to say the child we carry is another underlying medical conditions and without needing a letter from our GP. If you are still hesitant about getting the Pfizer vaccine, please do get in touch with your GP, your obstetrician, or your midwife.

The government's COVID-19 vaccination guide for women who are pregnant, breastfeeding and planning pregnancy also have useful information to help your decision.
