We are now >500 asking the Australian government that pregnant women become eligible to receive a Pfizer Vaccine.
This week, touching testimonies from pregnant women struggling to receive a Pfizer vaccine, stories of frustration of our health practitioners to not be able to protect us and the child we carry alongside our petition, have been relayed by the Daily Telegraph, the Guardian, and most recently the Sydney Morning Herald.
Based on age and where pregnant women live, approximately only 8% of pregnant women in Australia are currently eligible to receive a Pfizer vaccine, alongside pregnant women who met other eligibility criteria. GPs and obstetricians are advising their pregnant patients to book a Pfizer vaccine under "another underlying medical condition". While this is an alternative and a short-term solution, it would be best and easier if the Australian government made pregnancy a criterion of eligibility for us to receive the Pfizer vaccine, so that we all benefit from clear direction and advice from our health practitioners and we are all able to protect ourselves and the child we carry from COVID-19.
Thank you to each and every one of you for signing and sharing this petition.
Because pregnancy is not an underlying medical condition or a disability, let's support pregnant women to become officially eligible to receive a Pfizer vaccine in Australia. So if you haven't done it yet, please share this petition on your social media, with your friends and family.
