Many landlords are simply Mum and Dad investors. They have and continue to work multiple jobs to provide for their families. They have saved incredibly hard for the purchase of an investment property and paid their dues. Often they are part of a superannuation fund, especially with older Australians. They are not wealthy people and they are also effected by Covid-19. Landlords simply cannot afford to bear the cost of the governments proposed actions. If they are not supported and they are backed into a corner they will have no other choice but to sell. They are prepared to turn their back on providing housing and shift the onus back onto the states. If the government believe that a landlord can continue to pay land tax, municipal rates, agent management fees, property maintenance, building insurance and landlord insurance without rental income then they are sadly mistaken. They are also mistaken if they believe that interest accrued on investment loans whilst payments are paused is a fair hit to take for the team. By signing this petition you are saying to the both the Morrison government and your individual states, we will not take this laying down. If you back us into a corner and hurt us, we will simply sell them and then see how you intend to provide housing and meet the demand then.  " A fair go for those who have a go"  and "We are all in this together" Scott Morrison.
