Deforestation is a threat to the survival of human beings... but nothing is being done to stop it?

To get a better understanding we must know what is deforestation?

Deforestation is the clearance of forests or trees from a piece of land which will then be converted for other uses.

Who is being affected by deforestation?   

It is commonly known that trees help provide us with oxygen, so what happens when they are gone? Not only will we lose our greatest oxygen tank, but heaps of carbon dioxide trapped in trees will be released into the air. This ultimately adds to climate change which will shorten our already minimal years on Earth!

Humans aren't the only threatened species, many species of animals (964 plants and 286 animals) including Carnaby’s cockatoo, Bennet’s tree kangaroo, Cape York rock-wallaby, and the koala are threatened as well. To make matters worse, many of these animals are close to extinction! Be reminded that these animals are only the ones affected in Australia, more species are going extinct all around the globe because of deforestation; the orangutan one of them.

How YOU can help and make the difference:

• Support and promote WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature)
• Plant as many trees as you can (in legal areas and with authority of course)
• SPREAD AWARENESS ON THIS ISSUE.
