Plastic pollution. It’s an ever-increasing global issue in modern society that affects every living creature and every minute grain of sand on this Earth. We would like to contribute to this by making it compulsory for Australian schools to have recycling bins. We want to get as many signatures as possible so that we can take this petition to our local council member first, then we hope to proceed to the Queensland Government through the Premier: Annastacia Palaszczuk, then to the National Parliament and have it approved by the Prime Minister: Scott Morrison. Please help us take action!

The target of this issue is the consumers as they are in the prime position to make a difference. This is because plastic takes a generic course of action throughout its life from the manufacturing process to the sale but once it is in the hands of consumers, it can travel in many different directions, depending on how it is disposed. Unfortunately, many consumers dispose of plastic incorrectly which has lead to this extreme plastic pollution issue. By adding recycling bins to environments that many young people spend time at (schools), not only will young people learn the importance of recycling but it will make plastic recycle easy and accessible. Humans often need something to be extremely easy for them to be inclined to do it so, the more accessible recycling bins are, the more they will be used. 

Plastic pollution is not just a matter of damaging flora and fauna in the environment, it also contributes to climate change and global warming. As plastic decomposes, it releases toxic chemicals that damage the ozone layer and cause a blockage, disallowing carbon dioxide to leave the atmosphere of the planet. As estimated by scientists, Earth has until 2030 to fix global warming before it becomes irreversible. That's 11 years! We must act now if future generations of humans have a chance to survive. Our planet is dying!
