I believe next school year learning should go back to normal.
I believe next school year learning should go back to normal.
The Issue
If school of the Osage resumes traditional learning instead of “The Osage Plan” (4 days of traditional learning and 1 day of e-learning) it will be beneficial to the success of all students. Many students use school as an escape from bad home life’s such as abusive family’s. If School of the Osage forces students to stay home one more day of the week it puts students in harmful situations not only abuse but allows the exposure of drugs and alcohol. In additions to “The Osage Plan” attacking students, it will have a major impact on working parents. In Missouri there is no legal age limit in which a child is allowed to stay home alone, but many children under the age of 12 struggle taking care of themselves. This give parent little options regarding child care on Monday’s. Average local day care cost is between $20-25 a day(that’s $100 a month.) There are about 978 students the attend School of the Osage Upper Elementary and Heritage Elementary. Even if only half had to be placed into child care it would overflow day cares and possibly force day care centers to raise their rate in order to constitute for having to hire more staff to take care of the access amount of children. Over all if School of the Osage decides to put “The Osage Plan” in action for the 2020-2021 school year, students success and learning will suffer, as well as working parents.
