Bengal needs climate education

Bengal needs climate education
The Issue
Climate change is continuously destroying the livelihoods and landscape of West Bengal and Bangladesh. The storm, flood, and heatwaves are becoming stronger and more frequent, pushing millions of people to leave their homes and becoming climate refugees. Our food and water security and infrastructure are threatened by the extreme events and whimsical behaviour of weather. The global mitigation strategies will take decades to stand against climate change. However, we have to adapt and prepare for the consequences. We need to mainstream climate change and incorporate it in the school syllabus. We need to educate the future generation about the danger so that they can make informed decisions for protecting their lives and livelihood. Bengal need separate climate education course in school level integrating mitigation and adaptation.
