For years residents, traders, and visitors to Sandringham have longed for a "Village Square" - A healthy vibrant, safe and inclusive space away from cars to meet, relax, engage and renew connections to Local issues, art, commerce, history and environment. A prominent place connecting foot traffic from our beautiful Sandringham Station to our iconic Rotunda and proudly green foreshore zones, through vibrant shops and services in our historic village.

Bayside City Council is offering a trial 6 month closure of the inland end of Melrose Street in the Summer of 2023/2024 (inland of the drive-in bottle shop entry). But it is NOT assured to go ahead, even as a trial, without registration of your support!

How will we know how successful a "Village Square" in Melrose Street will be if we don't gain the data of experience - We need to measure the benefits of slower foot traffic for all!

We the undersigned hereby petition Bayside City Council, providing our contact details [Name, residential Suburb,  Postcode], for the purpose of securing a 6 MONTH TRIAL CLOSURE OF THE INLAND END OF MELROSE STREET SANDRINGHAM for the 2023/2024 SUMMER.
