Oregon just passed a bill requiring background checks on all gun sales.

This has been a long fight, but thanks to your support, this movement proved what happens when we come together to stand up to the gun lobby. Not only do we win, but we win BIG.

After years of unsuccessful attempts to pass this bill in the legislature, we came together in November, overcame intense gun lobby opposition, and elected a gun sense majority.

At each step Oregonians spoke up -- making calls, sending emails, attending hearings and meeting with lawmakers.

Once Governor Kate Brown signs the bill, Oregon will become the 18th state to require criminal background checks on all handgun sales -- and the 12th to require them on allgun sales.

This victory is a major defeat for the gun lobby and shows the NRA they have a formidable opponent in the citizens of Oregon. But we couldn't have done it without common-sense lawmakers on our side.
