Say no to violence against women and girls

Say no to violence against women and girls

The Issue

Ama was known for her rich and powerful voice. She sang in the church choir, organized tutorials for children as a means of giving back to our community, and cared lovingly for her younger siblings after the death of their parents. Despite the exuberance she showed to the world, behind closed doors, her partner silenced her vibrant spirit with fists and threats.

It all began with harsh words, then escalating to bruises that Ama hid under long sleeves. She told no one, believing silence was safer than shame, and hoping that love could change him. One evening, Ama didn’t show up to choir practice. Her sister found her lying quietly in her bedroom, her life dimmed by violence, her spirit broken.

We are raising our voices not just for Ama, but for the countless women whose songs are silenced every day by those they love most. In Ama’s case, the law intervened, but we stand in her memory to say: "Never again in silence." Let's pledge to change this narrative.

Globally, one in three women has been a victim of physical or sexual violence, often by someone they know. This is a stark reality we must face and fight against. The silence around domestic violence must be shattered, and awareness raised to prevent such tragedies.

This petition seeks to raise awareness and urge governments, communities, and individuals to take a firmer stand against violence towards women and girls. We call for stronger protective laws, more accessible support systems for victims, increased funding for educational programs, and community engagement initiatives.

By signing this petition, you join a growing movement to support victims and educate communities on preventing domestic violence. We need everyone's voice, including yours, to create a world where women and girls can feel safe and cherished.

Stand with us in solidarity against domestic violence. Please sign this petition and help us make a change.
