And calling it the “Inn at Altamont” is not just misleading — it’s a strategy to make the public feel like we don’t understand what’s actually being proposed.
Here’s the truth:
🏠 WHAT AN INN USUALLY IS:
- 10 to 50 rooms
- Quiet, low-impact lodging
- Often owner-operated
- Maybe breakfast or a small café
- Fits into the surrounding community
🏨 WHAT A RESORT IS — AND WHAT THIS PROJECT INCLUDES:
- 150 rooms
- 150,000+ sq. ft.
- A restaurant, spa, event space, and conference areas
- Built to draw tourists, not serve locals
- Will generate heavy traffic, require more infrastructure, and disrupt nearby neighborhoods
💡 To put that in perspective: The Biltmore House — the largest privately owned home in the U.S. — is 178,926 square feet. The proposed “Inn” is 150,000 square feet, or about 84% the size of the Biltmore.
Let that sink in. This is no cozy lodge in the woods.
They’re calling it an “inn” because they know calling it what it is — a resort — would alarm people. They want to soften the reality. But we’re not falling for it.
This is a commercial resort on a protected mountain, proposed by a developer with no experience building anything like it.
💥 Words matter. Zoning matters. And truth matters. We’re not falling for the branding. We know what’s coming if this passes.
🛑 Call it what it is. 🛑 Oppose annexation. 🛑 Protect Paris Mountain.
