Bromley Council have launched a public invitation to attend two engagement sessions that are being held at the Priory Gardens depot, with members of the project team on hand to talk through the plans and answer questions about plans to build an Archive Storage Warehouse in Priory Park. These sessions will take place on Wednesday 18 June 12pm to 2pm and Saturday 21 June 10am to 12pm.
Residents are also able to view and comment on proposals online, via Bromley Councils website and facebook page, with feedback from the engagement sessions helping to inform a planning application for the Museum and Archive store in the coming months, with residents then able to provide comments in the usual way.
What we have to remember is it doesn't matter if the building is hidden behind trees or if it is the most state of the art building architecturally. The fact is we will be losing this space that should be preserved for community and support the maintenance and regeneration of the historic park. The strip of land planned in for Friends of Priory gardens and a community garden will not be fit for purpose as it will be wedged between the new structure that is four time bigger than the small existing storeroom at 650sq meters and a large row of very tall mature trees.
THIS IS NOT A MUSEUM IT IS NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. A mention in the presentation to say they may have an open day is a pathetic attempt at making this closed to the public storage unit sound like it will be adding value to Orpington. Please send your concerns to Cll Yvonne Bear, who was in complete denial that this would have any detrimental affect on the park up keep and failed to see any value in our suggestions for community projects in time to come, at Yvonne.Bear@bromley.gov.uk.
Our High street will soon see the construction of new housing in the shape of high rise homes with no gardens. All open green space should be preserved to help support the growing community. We have this small window of opportunity to make our voices heard. It only takes a few minutes. Please act today for our children and for our tomorrows. Thank you
