On Friday I attended a Planning Meeting for the $19 million Elizabeth Avenue Overpass.  Present at the meeting were 5 representatives from TMR, along with Luke Howarth, Yvette D'Ath and the Business Manager from Clontarf Beach State High School.

I was informed that the $19 million Elizabeth Avenue Pedestrian Overpass project will not include intersection safety upgrades, as promised in the media announcements on 22 Fedruary 2022 by the federal Road Safety Program.  The $19 million is for the pedestrian overpass construction ONLY.

Now, more than ever we have great concern for the justification of spending $19 million on a Pedestrian bridge that will not improve  motor vehicle, pedestrian or cyclist safety at the adjacent intersections - ie Elizabeth-King-Snook and Snook-Oasis.  Just hours after we attended a meeting at the proposed construction site, a 3 vehicle head-on collision occurred at the Elizabeth-King-Snook intersection.

We have been advised there with be a Community Consultation event at Frawley Fields in a marquee setting - at a date and time to be determined. However, the longer we leave it to voice our concerns there is less chance that our voices and concerns will be heard and make a difference.

Therefore I urge you to support us by signing the Change.org petition (if you haven't already) as well as write/email your state and federal politicians with your concerns asap.

If you would like me to keep you informed via email of further developments, please let me know on susank.bulow@bigpond.com. (Sue Johnson)
