Say No to Solar Development on Green Belt Farmland

The Issue

We, the undersigned residents of Shenfield and the surrounding area, object to the proposed industrial-scale solar development on Green Belt Farmland off Hall Lane and Roman Road.

This development would cause irreversible damage to productive farmland, Green Belt countryside, wildlife habitats around Home Wood and to the historic rural setting of listed buildings.

The proposal fails to meet the ‘very special circumstances’ required for development on Green Belt land and raises significant safety, traffic and environmental concerns.

We call on Brentwood Borough Council to reject the planning application in full and require the developers to prioritise brownfield and rooftop solar alternatives instead of destroying farmland.
