Stop5G NearSJHomes started this petition to Mayor, City of San Jose Sam Liccardo and

Harmful RF Radiation 24/7 at your front yard..

20-25% reduction in property values ...

Added environmental and aesthetic issues ..

San Jose is about to be blanketed with thousands of 5G small cell towers throughout residential neighborhoods right next to homes. These are boxes mounted to telephone poles or light posts every few hundred feet. The FCC has no restrictions or setbacks to homes.

There is great concern by scientists and communities across the world over 5G's use of the higher energy millimeter-wave radiation. Not only is it much stronger but the amount of cell towers planned is staggering.

In 2011, RF radiation was officially classified as a group 2B carcinogen (possible carcinogenic risk), joining other substances such as lead and DDT.  There is quickly growing research on the dangers of long-term exposure to RF radiation, and the implementation of 5G means even larger wavelengths and higher levels of radiation.  The most current Meta-Analysis and Systematic Review data (which collect all current data and make an informed consensus on the findings) show serious, and strong correlations with brain tumors (gliomas) and accoustic neuromas (auditory tumors), with prolonged cell phone and RF exposure.  Additionally, fetuses and children are significantly more likely to have adverse reactions to RF radiation due to the increased absorption of pediatric brain tissue and bone marrow (2-3x more in brain tissue and 10x more in the bone marrow of the pediatric skull!).  Keep in mind this isn’t a cell phone that we can put away, keep from our kids, or turn off, it’s 24/7/365 exposure!

This will also impact communities' aesthetics enormously and potentially cause adverse health affects. While also devaluing homes. If you don’t believe the science of the health risks, let’s talk about the reduced housing values associated with selling near a cell tower.  A June 2014 survey from National Institute for Science, Law and Public Policy (NISLAPP) in Washington D.C. (“Neighborhood Cell Towers & Antennas – Do They Impact a Property’s Desirability?”) found that out of 1,000 respondents:

94% said it would negatively impact their interest
79% said under no circumstances would they ever purchase or rent within a few blocks of a cell tower
89% were generally concerned about the increasing number of cell towers and antennas in their residential neighborhood

Will the City compensate residents for the 20-25% drop in property value?

Towns claim to have little to no power over this happening and it is being pushed through so quickly by the FCC the public is not aware. Once installed there is no turning back.

What we can do is show our opposition to city council applying pressure for them to create an ordinance where they can at least keep small cell towers out of residential areas.

Many cities in California are standing up. There have been a few cases where they have had success in keeping it out of residential areas - Los Altos, Calabasas, Mill Valley.

People are slowly waking up but we need to act swiftly. City Council is under severe pressure from the FCC and has already caved into their demands.

Let's join this list of California Towns that are opposing 5G cell towers in their communities:

Contra Costa, Danville, Mill Valley, Monterey, Napa, Oakland, Orinda, Palo Alto, Petaluma, San Rafael, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, Sonoma, Ventura County, Los Altos, Thousand Oaks, Calabasas, Encinitas
