[Over 200 people showed up at the City's Small Wireless Facilites Town Hall Meeting on September 23rd. With dozens of citizens standing up to speak, the public outcry was unanimously in opposition to the installation of the 5G small cell towers throughout the city. The speakers asked the city to halt any further installations until the Council made appropriate amendments to the non protective ordinance they passed on August 21, 2019. 

But until this ordinance is amended it will be open season for telecom installations in our city. Multiple small cell towers have already appeared overnight throughout our residential areas. 

October 30th is a long way off and will give the telecom lots of time to populate our streets with cell towers.]

(Original message) Encinitas is about to be blanketed with hundreds of 5G small cell towers throughout residential neighborhoods by the FCC. These are boxes mounted to telephone poles and light posts every few hundred feet. The FCC has no restrictions or setbacks to homes. 

There is great concern by scientists and communities across the world over 5G's use of the higher energy millimeter-wave radiation. Not only is it much stronger but the amount of cell towers planned is staggering. This will impact communities' aesthetics enormously and potentially cause adverse health affects. While also devaluing homes.

Towns have little to no power over this happening and it is being pushed through so quickly by the FCC the public is not aware. Once installed there is no turning back.

What we can do is show our opposition to city council applying pressure for them to create an ordinance where they can at least keep small cell towers out of residential areas. 

Many cities in California are standing up. There have been a few cases where they have had success in keeping it out of residential areas. Los Altos, Calabasas, Mill Valley.

People are slowly waking up but we need to act swiftly. City Council is under severe pressure from the FCC and has already caved into their demands.
