Locals are saying NO to the proposed plan for the Hope Anti Supermarket on Victoria Road in New Brighton to become a huge Rightway DIY Superstore. The Victoria Road area is fiercely independent and the space could be much better used as a venue to benefit the local community rather than a large DIY store. Moreover, it would severely impact other local independent DIY stores in the area such as The Flying Dutchman and Howells around the corner. There is already a large B&Q outlet close by in Bidston -- we do not need or want this and it goes against everything the creative Victoria Quarter area is all about.
