Say NO to National Guard in Portland

Say NO to National Guard in Portland
The Issue
The Trump administration has just federalized Oregon’s National Guard — against the wishes of our elected officials — and is now deploying troops to Portland under the false pretense of “lawlessness” and “domestic terrorism.”
Let’s be clear: There is no insurrection.
There is no emergency that warrants armed military force in our neighborhoods.
This isn’t about safety — it’s about politics and control.
Oregon’s Governor Tina Kotek and Attorney General Dan Rayfield have already filed a federal lawsuit challenging the legality of this deployment, citing violations of the 10th Amendment and the Posse Comitatus Act, which prohibits using military forces for civilian law enforcement without strict justification.
Portland crime rates are stable or declining.
According to the Portland Police Bureau’s own data, violent crime is down, and there have only been small, peaceful protests — not the chaos Trump claims.
We, the undersigned, stand with Oregon’s elected leaders and demand:
- Immediate withdrawal of National Guard troops from Portland and across Oregon
- Restoration of state control over the Oregon National Guard
- A public commitment from the White House to respect state sovereignty in domestic deployments
- Congressional oversight into unlawful federal militarization of U.S. cities
The people of Oregon did not ask for this. We do not want troops in our streets. This sets a dangerous precedent where the federal government can override local authority with no basis in fact or law.
Say no to political theater.
Say no to military force on civilian streets.
Say no to this dangerous abuse of federal power.
Sign this petition to protect democracy, defend local control, and keep Oregon free from unnecessary militarization.
