Good evening neighbors,
Thank you for your continued support! We are on the precipice of our next goal, 1500 signatures! We appreciate each and every one of you for getting the word out and sharing with other neighbors. There are still many people who live in our area that do not know about this project, so your constant conversations with other community members are truly valued. We understand people are busy going about their daily lives, working, and taking care of their families. So it is important to share this news when you find someone who is unaware.
I am posting this update just to share that we are in the news again! Please click HERE to read the article on Newsday. I also added a pdf of the article in our shared Google folder.
To provide a brief summary, the article reports on our plan (shared here in a previous update) to provide alternate ideas for the one hundred acres of land where the Town is looking to build this industrial park. We would prefer a real park, with trails, gardens, and a social building for educational meetings and events like weddings and other celebrations. We are also looking to honor the veterans buried on those sacred grounds with a Veterans Day tribute (I'll post more information on this once I have it). Overall we want Pinelawn and the Town of Babylon to understand that this is our community and we will do all we can to keep it a beautiful place to live.
I also want to remind everyone that we recently started a non-profit group to help us make our advocacy more cohesive. The Historical Conservation Society of Wheatley Heights and Wyandanch has been officially formed! You can read more about it in the Newsday article.
Lastly, please remember to check your junk email folder for updates; some of you have told me you haven't heard anything since signing the petition. I believe that the change.org emails will go directly to your junk folder unless you have change.org in your address book. So please remember to add us so you can get the updates.
Thank you again to everyone for your continued advocacy and support.
Best,
Love
