Say no to a Times Square casino—protect Broadway, small businesses, and the soul of NYC
The Issue
Times Square is the cultural heartbeat of New York City. It’s where tourists flock, artists dream, and the lights of Broadway shine brightest. But all of that is now at risk.
A $5.4 billion casino project—backed by Caesars, Roc Nation, and developers promising luxury and glitz—is being proposed in the heart of Times Square. Supporters claim it will boost business and fund community programs. But those who live and work here know better.
The Broadway League, representing theaters across the district, warns that a casino will draw visitors away from local restaurants and neighborhood businesses—not toward them. Residents and performers fear it will turn a world-renowned cultural destination into just another gambling strip.
Times Square doesn’t need slot machines. It needs investment in artists, safety, and the small businesses still recovering from the pandemic.
We’re calling on the New York State Gaming Commission and city leaders to reject the Times Square casino proposal and protect the integrity, identity, and economic ecosystem of Broadway and the Theater District.
This is more than a real estate deal. It’s a fight for the future of New York.
