A Current Affair just ran a story on the potential health dangers to infants and children of the planned quarry on Arthurs Seat. That’s in addition to the environmental destruction of up to 94 acres of remnant bushland.

In this major news moment, we need thousands of us clicking here to write to politicians and the Ross Trust, telling them to put a stop to this dangerous new quarry.

The Ross Trust is seeking government approval for a new granite quarry on Arthurs Seat. Thousands of local children would grow up near the quarry.

A Current Affair just featured a story on the potential health risks to children, according to a group of more than 120 doctors who have looked into the issue.

Silica dust and fine particulate matter, known as PM2.5, will be released by the quarry. Silica dust has been linked to cancer and lung disease in occupational settings. PM2.5 are small enough to be inhaled and reach the lower airways where they can cause inflammation and irreparable damage.

It’s also an environmental disaster. The Ross Trust is proposing to bulldoze, blast and mine between two sections of Arthurs Seat State Park. This would destroy up to 94 acres of our last remaining remnant bushland, create a 190-meter-deep pit and sever a critical biolink for koalas and other native animals.

In response to this major news story, it’s important that we tell both the Ross Trust and our political leaders to put a stop to this dangerous quarry on Arthurs Seat.

Click here to write an email to the Ross Trust and our political leaders, telling them to save Arthurs Seat from this dangerous new quarry.

Thank you.

P.S. If you missed the story on A Current Affair you can see it here.
