Say NO to 20m 5G Phone Mast on School Playing Fields, St Mildred's Road, Westgate-on-Sea

The Issue

Are you comfortable with a 20 metre 5G (plus 3 and 4G) telephone mast being put on the school playing fields of our local junior school?

How safe is this for the children from St Saviours C of E Junior School (aged 7 to 11) to be playing alongside this new electromagnetic radiation technology?

The playing fields are also used by the Westgate Cricket Club juniors each Sunday and during matches. Is it acceptable for them to also be bathed in this electromagnetic smog?

Can we be certain of the safety of this as yet fully tested technology? Doesn’t it make more sense to follow the precautionary principle and find a location away from the children and the adults and teenagers in the care homes on the corners of St Mildred’s Road and Elm Grove and Harold Avenue?

The telephone company claim that the nearest school is approximately 100m away when in reality the school is less than 25m away. Why would they say this?

Thanet District Council planning department claim that the mast is not within a Conservation Area, when the truth is that it definitely is, and then provided a “Prior Approval Not Required” consent. Why would they do this? Should the planning application have even been granted in favour of the telephone company when the material fact of it being in a Conservation Area was ‘missed’ by the planning officer?

If you do not agree to this mast being put up in the vicinity of our children please sign this petition to make Thanet District Council, Kent County Council and the telephone company cease with this unwelcome and unnecessary plan!

Thank you for signing!
