The issue

Right Industry. Right Zone. Protect South Burnett Rural Land.

The proposed development by BYV organics seeks to establish a high impact Bio Solids (sewage sludge)  processing facility within a rural area (GLAN DEVON) currently characterized by agricultural production, rural lifestyles and open countryside.

High Impact Industry zones exist to accommodate industrial activities that may involve significant transport movements, industrial processing, odour, noise, emissions and other operational impacts while providing appropriate separation from surrounding communities.

By signing this you respectfully call upon the South Burnett Regional council to refuse this development application (MCU26/0004) on the grounds that:

1) Approving industrial-scale processing facilities on rural land when appropriately zoned industrial land may be available undermines the integrity of Queensland's planning framework and creates unnecessary land-use conflict.

2) This project will have a significant detrimental impact on the amenity and value of surrounding properties, and potentially will impact the value, and attractiveness of the wider region.

3) There are threatened species within the development zone.

4) There are many unanswered questions surrounding the potential benefit to the region  purported by the developers.

5) The potential for contamination to air, land and water is not adequately addressed.

6) There is potential for a significant increase in heavy vehicle movement on local roads increasing the risk to other road users and wildlife.
