Say Her Name: Justice for Miashah Moses Starts With an Arrest!
The Issue
Demand the Tulsa County DA arrest and charge Leon Blair Perkins III!!
On May 3, 2025, Miashah Moses, a 34 year old queer Black woman, was fatally stabbed in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by a 65 year old white man named Leon Blair Perkins III.
It started as a road rage incident between Miashah and Leon, but Miashah did what she was supposed to do which is remove herself from the situation. She was headed to a family member's house to do yard work and parked in the church parking lot directly across the street from the family member's home. It was an unfortunate coincidence that the church/family member was located in the same neighborhood where Leon lives.
When talking to Tulsa PD, Leon had contradicting stories which makes his statement less than credible. He told police that he thought Miashah was following him and was afraid to go home. In another part of his statement, he admits that he realized she wasn't following him anymore once he pulled into the neighborhood. He drove around for 10 minutes and decided to confront her once he spotted her car. He had a concealed knife in his back pocket according to law enforcement. He claims he just "wanted to talk" but what followed was a fatal, targeted stabbing. Leon is well over 6' and Miashah was 4'11.
Detective White told the family not to expect an arrest, claiming Leon is too old and in poor condition. If he was well enough to stalk and confront Miashah then he is well enough to be held accountable. This blatant dismissal of justice reflects a larger pattern of systemic neglect when it comes to violence against Black women, especially queer Black women!
We demand the Tulsa County District Attorney's Office:
1.) Arrest and charge Leon Blair Perkins III for the murder of Miashah Moses.
2.) Apply Oklahoma's self-defense laws appropriately, recognizing that initiating a confrontation negates a self-defense claim.
3.) Ensure a transparent, thorough, and unbiased investigation into Miashah's death.
Miashah was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Her life mattered, and her death deserves justice. We call upon the Tulsa County District Attorney's Office to act in accordance with the law and uphold justice for Miashah Moses!
