Saving Gaming: RAM and the necessity of price controls

Saving Gaming: RAM and the necessity of price controls
The Issue
To: The governments of the United States, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, and all nations hosting semiconductor manufacturing or major AI corporations.
We all remember when we got our first PC, our first games console, our first electronic device capable of running a video game. The euphoria, the excitement, the joy.
That joy now carries a price tag many cannot meet.
Why, though? The price of materials, the price of craftsmanship, the price of technology are not the reasons for this increase, as it would normally. Instead, the companies responsible for RAM production have changed priorities, simply because it is more profitable to serve the interests of a large AI corporation than it is to help the working class hobbyist.
Gaming will become unaffordable, unless we take action:
• Consumer RAM price ceilings:
Implementing price ceilings for consumer RAM will help keep gaming affordable for the average person, at least in the short term.
• Punish companies for anti-consumer practices regarding RAM prices
Penalties (that are more than a mere slap on the wrist) will help prevent these companies from conducting anti-consumer practices such as inflating prices, companies intentionally worsening quality of their products to increase profit margin, conducting misleading business practices, and creating planned obsolescence.
• Partial nationalization/public ownership of AI companies
Partial public ownership of AI companies will help not only limit the demand of semiconductors for datacenters, but also come with many side benefits, such as safer, steadier AI model growth and AI growth being prioritized for the public good.
I believe these things would not only fix the RAM issues (the main concern of this petition) but would, at the same time, address many other concerns.
We must not allow gaming to become a hobby which nobody can afford. We must do everything in our power to prevent greed from ruining our passion.
