Dear defenders of the clickety-clackety sign at 30th St.
I woke up this morning to find that nearly 200 people had signed this petition in the evening and overnight. As of lunchtime today, just 24 hours after this popular uprising began, nearly 300 have put their names to screen in defense of our beloved sign. With no fanfare, no media coverage, and certainly no paid advertising, (despite change.org's best efforts) we have clearly tapped into a strongly-held feeling.
"It makes Philly & 30th Street distinctive. Who else has one now? Preserve it!" Jerry Bussman wrote in the discussion this morning. Who else does???!?
"It’s the best part of the train station" wrote Sarah Wood. Hard to argue!!!
"I commuted by Amtrak nearly every day for a year. Seeing the beautiful sign, hearing its clicks, and soaking in the amazing architecture made the journey feel special. Although my career is with computers, some things are just better analog. Save the sign!" wrote Michelle Lee. A computer person!
"Let us clicc" wrote Bill Rickards, beautifully.
Imagine a world in which your children never know the sound of a quiet night or early morning at the train station, comforting clicks bouncing off the marble floor, coffee in hand, as you take off for a day of work or come home for a night with your family. This is who we are. Please share on Facebook.
Yours in cliccs,
Clickety Clack
