My wee Seafood Shack is situated in the centre of Killybegs at the site where a fish trailer traded for decades. When it closed I bought the trailer and between lots of jigs and reels turned it into a seafood shack. It has gained attention in the media, I have met some amazing people in my 8 years here and would love to remain here. I was given 9 days notice to move to another location. There is a traders area just on the outskirts of town with no toilet facilities & no access to water. It does not work for my business. Where I sit is the only designated trading area in the town which I pay a fee every year to trade from. Donegal County Council have been very supportive since I opened as a novice trader but the roadworks dept of the Donegal County Council have decided where I sit is the only place suitable for another bus stop. Essentially jeopardising 11 jobs. It brings people in to the town, where other businesses benefit from the influx of tourists. We all benefit when the town is busier. Tourism and hospitality is what I am all about, looking after people who come to spend their hard earned money with me is what I do best (for the most part) if you could please sign the petition and also use the hash tag #savetheshack I could hopefully get more exposure and attention.
