#SaveOurKidsCare – Stop Western Sydney University from Closing Blacktown ELC

The issue

We, the undersigned, urgently call on Western Sydney University to reverse its decision to permanently close the Early Learning Blacktown Centre on 27 February 2026.

This centre is more than just a childcare facility – it is a lifeline for families across Western Sydney. For decades, it has provided exceptional care, early learning, and stability for children aged 6 months to 5 years, consistently exceeding the National Quality Standard (NQS). It has been a trusted space for staff, students, and local families, supporting the community for generations.

Closing this centre will have devastating consequences:

Babies and toddlers will be torn from the trusted educators and safe environment they have known since birth.
Preschoolers will lose the stability they need in their critical transition year before school.
Parents will face extreme stress, struggling to secure alternative childcare in a region where waiting lists already extend 18–24 months, threatening careers, education, and financial security.
We believe that the University’s decision prioritises profit over people, disregarding the emotional, social, and educational wellbeing of children and families.

We, the community, demand that Western Sydney University keep this vital centre open, honouring its responsibility to support children, parents, and the local community.

We urge everyone to join our social media campaign #SaveOurKidsCare and stand together to protect the children of Western Sydney. Every signature matters – these are real children and families facing real disruption.

Sign this petition to help save our kids, our community, and a centre that has nurtured generations.
