I hope you and your family are safe and sound as we all try to minimize the impact of the Coronavirus.
It's hard to imagine that a week ago I was trying to Save Home Studios in Music City by convincing the Nashville Metro Council to understand just how important it is for us to work from home.
And now leaders everywhere are asking us to work from home to be safe. Go figure!
We had a great turnout at the public hearing and many got up to speak. I even co-wrote a song with Tommy Womack called:
"We Need To Work From Home!"
Watch the song here: https://youtu.be/mOJ5BH3KKvM?t=5893
I stepped up to the podium and sang it to the Metro Council and the whole room burst into a sing-a-along!
The only thing missing was John and Yoko. Make sure you watch till the end when the Chairman starts banging his gavel and the timer goes off. :-)
I got up to speak last actually. There was a long line of supporters who shared their heartfelt stories about music studios, hair stylists, hair braiders, and language teachers. We were an impressive movement.
Even my own daughter surprised us all by deciding last minute to get up and speak about the importance of working from home. She is 14 and wrote her statement on the spot. Can you say 'proud dad'?

If you want to watch the whole thing just start the video from about 1 hour and 30 minutes into the meeting.

So what next?
As you can imagine things are on pause here in Nashville while the city waits to see what happens next. So while we originally planned to have another public hearing on April 7 it looks like we will have to wait till the Metro Council is ready to start meeting again.
So...
My goal now is to keep our group of supporters held together in the meantime and send you periodic updates as new information comes along. When the Metro Council meets again I will certainly point out the importance of allowing people to work from home moving forward.
It seems clear to me that allowing residents to work together in their homes is a much safer way to avoid a pandemic than forcing everyone to go out to large public commercial areas. Plus people will need every opportunity they can to support themselves.
What do you think?
Thanks so much for your support! We will win this thing.
