I'm starting this petition because Zoe Slater deserves better. After waiting over 20 years for one of EastEnders’ most iconic characters to return, fans were excited to see her rebuild her life, reconnect with Kat and the Slaters, and finally get the future she’d been denied for so long. If the reports are true, killing Zoe off permanently would end decades of storytelling potential and close the door on a legacy character forever. There were so many other ways to write an exit if Michelle Ryan was no longer available to continue in the role.

EastEnders has always been praised for its powerful storytelling and complex character arcs. Characters like Zoe Slater are the heart of the show, and bringing her back was a chance to explore new and compelling narratives. Zoe's history, her struggles, and her connections with the other residents of Albert Square offer rich opportunities for drama and growth. To simply erase her would be a disservice not only to long-time viewers but to the show’s legacy as a whole.

There are numerous ways to preserve Zoe’s future within EastEnders without resorting to her death. We’ve seen characters killed off hastily before and it being a decision that hurts the show. Ronnie and Roxy, Martin etc. 

We urge the writers and producers of EastEnders to reconsider their plans for Zoe Slater. Let’s keep this iconic character alive and fully explore her potential storylines. By doing so, we honour the show's history and give respect to the viewers who have been loyal over the decades.
