Save Zeke Weaver Memorial Ball Field from Redevelopment

The Issue

The Zeke Weaver Memorial Ball Field in Fallbrook, CA, is more than just a piece of land; it's a cherished part of our community's history and heart. For decades, I, along with countless other residents, have shared unforgettable moments playing baseball here. This field has been an essential cornerstone of our youth's development since it was established in 1914. For context, two of MLB's oldest ballparks, Fenway and Wrigley, were built in 1912 and 1914.

Generations of Fallbrook residents have grown up learning about teamwork, dedication, and sportsmanship on this very field. The ballpark is more than grass and bases — it's where our children dream, discover, and build lifelong friendships, just as we did.

However, the community now faces a dire threat. Plans are underway to convert this timeless field into affordable housing. While affordable housing is important, it should not come at the cost of losing a century-old symbol of our community's spirit and togetherness. We believe that this is a short-sighted solution that undermines our town's history and the value of preserving spaces crucial for community engagement.

We propose exploring alternative locations for the housing project that will not devastate such a pivotal community asset. By leveraging other underutilized spaces, we can achieve the goal of expanding housing opportunities without obliterating our town's heritage.

Please help us keep the Zeke Weaver Memorial Ball Field intact for current and future generations. It's crucial to act now. If you share our commitment to preserving this irreplaceable landmark, I urge you to support our cause with your signature.
