New Parking Scheme to be voted on by Council on 17 December

Thanks for your support on this important issue.

Just a quick update...

Council has prepared a new Resident Parking Scheme  and is going to vote on it next week. It is much improved however many issues that residents raised have not been addressed - including:

- Some categories of crisis accomodation are excluded from having parking permits
- ALL trucks, vans, and trailers are excluded - even if they are under 7.5m long and under 4.5gross. Many residents are tradies / landscapers etc and drive a small truck / van as their only means of transport??? Yet they will not be able to park at / near their home.
- There is no transitional period for residents who own trailers or small trucks or provision for what they should do in the immediate future once this total ban comes in early in 2020.
- There remains a mandatory requirement for applicants to have a current drivers licence to get a parking permit. An elderly or disabled person who OWNS a car, but does not drive can only access a visitor pass.  So that means they could not have their own car parked and have a carer or visitor come to park as well.

And the fees proposed have still not been fully publicised, but are to be voted on by Council next week.

Contact Families for Manly if you want a copy of the new Scheme. This applies to Manly first but all of the NB need to be across this. Perhaps ask your Ward Councillors how they will vote on Tuesday night?

Thanks again for reading and for signing!!
