Thank you for your vote for common sense. You made a difference!!

Well, it's been a long , rather frustrating experience trying to get clear information and a sensible new scheme for Manly Resident Parking. Overall, residents are disappointed in Council, and how it handled this matter  - in particular regarding transparency, process and communication. 

However, the outcome is much better than the original plan proposed by Council. Residents will be entitled to 2 permits (and a third one, to be assessed in extenuating circumstances under the delegation of the CEO.) And there will be a single "Multi-use Parking Permit" linked to the property to facilitate trades, visitors, etc (instead of the bureaucratic nightmare that was originally proposed)

And that outcome is down to you. So THANK YOU!!!!

The fees for the new Parking Permit Scheme for Manly were not included in the agenda or minutes.  We opposed Council charging for the first permit, however, the 1st Permit will now be $47.

- 2nd Permit will be $121, 3rd Permit  (if eligible) will be  $210.

- Boat Trailer Permit (max one)  $1000, Box Trailer (max one)    $210

- The Multi Use (visitor, tradies, carer) permit fee has not been disclosed. 

These fees will be a real slug to multi-generational families who need to buy 3 parking permits as well as the multi-use for visitors and tradies or carers.

Unfortunately our concerns for the elderly and disabled were largely ignored, and a current drivers licence remains mandatory, to get a resident parking permit. We were advised that these residents "could use their multi use permit instead"  That means those residents will not be able to have carers or visitors (as they will be using that permit for their own car)

But we will be now closing this petition, as the matter has been decided.

Thank you again for your support and your vote for common sense. You have helped get a better scheme for residents. (But disappointingly,  a scheme that will still have unintended consequences for the elderly and disabled)
