Last Thursday, May 25th, the Sun Valley Community Coalition, and other co-sponsors, hosted a Lunch & Learn that highlighted the adaptive reuse of the Beloit College Powerhouse, a comparable structure that acts as model for the potential of Xcel’s historic Zuni Steam Plant. Beloit College’s project manager, Dan Schooff, also the former Chief of Staff for Wisconsin’s Public Service Commission, presented to a large group of Denver community members and civic leaders to discuss the importance, process and opportunity of revitalizing this vulnerable cultural resource. Sun Valley Community Coalition maintains that this adaptive reuse opportunity can simultaneously achieve the neighborhood’s goals of place and Xcel’s goals for further sustainability and energy justice.
In case you missed them, Denverite and Westword each published an article about the event last week. Please be sure to reshare this petition and these news articles with your friends, family, and colleagues to generate more support for the adaptive reuse of this iconic cathedral to industry.
