SAVE WPSU

SAVE WPSU
The Issue
The recent announcement from the Penn State Board of Trustees to "wind down" WPSU will deprive the central region—a whole third of Pennsylvania—from PBS-NPR access.
This means the stakes are gravely high. WPSU is a reliable source of information about current news, one of the best ways people find out about events happening in their community, and it is sometimes the only source of information for people in rural areas. It is public media. That means everyone should have access to it. But there is more. WPSU is also a great facet for learning about culture, music, food, and everything else PBS nationally provides. And perhaps the worst consequence? The loss of PBS KIDS programs. I grew up watching PBS KIDS, you grew up watching PBS KIDS, and if this goes through, the loss of WPSU will take PBS KIDS with it.
We must act now, as the "wind down" aka closure of WPSU is scheduled for June. Do not let your mind trick you into thinking that date is far away. Protect our public media. Make Mister Rogers, Levar Burton, Bill Nye, and Miss Frizzle proud. Make our friends at 123 Sesame Street proud. We must hold the line and protect WPSU, PBS, and NPR because as they always remind us, it is viewers like me, viewers like you, and viewers like US.
