Save Woodston Library from Closure.

Woodston Library was given to the people of Woodston in 1951 by the Hartley family, residents of Fletton Towers.  One of the residents, LP Hartley, wrote the classic novel “The Go-Between”.  The library has been in constant use as a local library for all since that time.  

Peterborough City Council are reviewing all of the properties they own and have suggested the library building is no longer needed and they are looking to move the library service elsewhere and let out the building for another use.  If they deem it to be underused it could well be closed.  

We don’t agree and want to preserve the library for future generations of readers in Woodston.  We urge the Council to recognise this is a valued local community asset.  The local community want to work with the council to see extended opening times and wider use by the local community.
