SAVE WITHERS COMMUNITY LIBRARY

PREAMBLE:

The Withers Community Library has been a corner stone of our community for 40 years.

On the 10th Dec. at the Ordinary Council meeting a motion was adopted unanimously by Councillors.

Items one and two of the motion read:

1.    Endorse the partnership between the City and Foodbank WA for the provision of wrap-around services from the Current Withers Community Library building and surrounding site.

2.    Endorse the implementation of a plan that will see the Withers Community Library site transition from its current service provision format from April 2025, allowing Foodbank Bunbury to fully operate from the site as of April 2026.

This motion directs the closure of Withers Community Library.

This motion must be rescinded.

At a public meeting held Thursday 16th Jan, at the Withers library a large crowd of residents loudly voiced their support to keep our purpose-built Library open.

The location of this library fits perfectly with the strategic goal of a “connected and inclusive community”.

Once revitalized, it can be the dynamic, community hub it once was.

This petition will be tabled at the Ordinary Council Meeting on the 4th Feb and we humbly ask for your support by signing the petition below:

Note:  we appreciate your support but only the signatures of Bunbury electors will be counted by the executives when the petition is tabled.
