The issue

Like precious "liquid gold", Willby's unique colic mix has brought relief and comfort to countless families for over 30-years. There's no greater agony than watching your helpless baby cry inconsolably. A godsend for parents watching their babies’ gut-wrenching struggle with colic, Willby's mix has proven time and time again to be a critical lifeline.

The Victorian Pharmacy Authority (VPA) has imposed a ban on Willby’s - a fully Australian-owned small family business in Mitcham, Victoria - from compounding their famous mix. This measure will inevitably lead to enormous distress for families across Australia who rely heavily on this vital remedy to alleviate their babies' discomfort and pain.

Colic is a common condition in infants, affecting roughly 20% of all newborns in Australia (Jones 2017). Unable to clearly articulate their pain, babies rely on their caretakers, and solutions like Willby's mixture, for solace. We cannot underestimate the impact of this discontinuation on these families' wellbeing and the mental wellbeing of new mums battling post-partum depression and post-partum anxiety as they are forced to watch their babies struggle and unable to help them.

We humbly petition the VPA to reconsider their measure and permit Willby's to continue its compounding services. Every child's wellbeing is paramount, and with this in mind, we implore authorities to facilitate the continued supply of this indispensable tool in a parent's arsenal. Please sign this petition and advocate for our right to comfort our babies in their time of distress.
