Save West Sands Fun Fair from closure
The Issue
For as long as I can remember, the West Sands Fun Fair has been more than just a place to enjoy thrilling rides and games; it has been a cherished landmark at Seal Bay in Selsey, a place where countless memories have been made. I grew up visiting this classic fair, laughing with family and friends, basking in the joy that only a place so rich in community spirit can provide. The fair has been an iconic part of Seal Bay Caravan Site for decades, a key attraction for both locals and tourists.
However, recent developments threaten to erase this beloved piece of our heritage. Following the acquisition of Seal Bay by Haven, notice has been served to West Sands Fun Fair that their contract will not be renewed. This means that unless we act now, the fun fair—a bastion of nostalgia and joy for so many—will be lost forever.
West Sands Fun Fair is not just about rides and entertainment; it offers employment to local residents and draws visitors to our area, beneficially impacting our local economy. The discontinuation of this fair is not just the loss of entertainment but a cultural and economic blow to Selsey.
We must act to persuade Haven to reconsider their decision and allow the renewal of West Sands Fun Fair’s contract. We propose constructive dialogue between Haven and local community representatives to find a viable solution that maintains the spirit and tradition of the fun fair while honoring the development vision. This negotiation can ensure that the fair continues to operate on the condition that it enhances safety, enriches community involvement, and contributes positively to the overall development plan for Seal Bay.
Preserving West Sands Fun Fair is foundational to maintaining the character and charm of Seal Bay. Please sign this petition to voice your support for a cherished institution that has brought happiness to generations. Our goal is to gather enough signatures to show Haven just how vital West Sands Fun Fair is to our community and its visitors alike. Help us save this invaluable part of our history by adding your name today.
