Save TK Falls from humans

The Issue

#savetkfalls

Thotikallu Falls (TK Falls) is the nearest waterfalls that people of Bengaluru,India have access to. Its an elephant corridor & entry is strictly prohibited according to a Wiki article. However, irrespective of the boards and signs mentioning about the entry to the falls being banned, the place is thronged by thousands of people during weekends resulting in absolute chaos, noise pollution and plastic pollution.

From the cars parked on the streets, on private farmlands and on landfills to street vendors trying to make a quick buck by selling food items in plastic containers, it seems everyone is violating the environment and nature.

The place is highly unregulated and needs urgent attention by the forest department. The inflow of visitors and amount of noise generated by people shouting has certainly disturbed the ecological balance.

Just to give an idea of the scale of pollution - we found thousands of plastic cups on the ground and in the water, chips packets, diapers hanging on trees, sanitary pads floating, broken slippers, undergarments, bottles spewed everywhere. The more you see, the more you understand that we humans don't deserve this place and if you love nature, the condition of this place will certainly leave you emotionally overwhlemed.

Our sincere request to the forest department will be to take urgent cognizance of this issue and either permanently barricade the place from any entry or conduct a thorough cleanup, ticket the entry, ban street vendors from using and selling plastic, install dustbins, add cctv surveillance and engage guards making sure there is no plastic pollution.

And our request to you here would be to support this cause and help us convey to the authorities that we are with them if they want to barricade this place.
